The Little Guys
So I’ve been making the smallest size square for about a week now. I think I have 35 of them. Since I’m not following the color plan of the pattern, I have found it necessary to chart what color combinations I have done so that I don’t repeat and so that I don’t end up overusing the colors I intend as accents.
I’m really enjoying crocheting, although I started to miss knitting yesterday and had to start a new sweater. For all of those knitters who are scared of crocheting, don’t be; it’s wrist-ier than knitting and, for English style knitters, you do hold the yarn in your left hand, but it’s really not hard. It has a nice flow, and it’s fun learn something new. -- Whitney

Editors and pattern tech writers often feel that people are uncomfortable with any direction involving color decision-making on their part.
The thing is, I am a seato'thepants kind of
"designer", and I think working on the fly is in this case THE way to see what colors you've over or underused.
Doesn't help much, I can appreciate if you've already made 37thousand two-round squares...
We have the magazine with the pattern available at purlsoho.com. Its the Interweave Press Crochet - Spring 2006 special issue.
You can find it here:

Its the second magazine down on the left.
Of course! Any yarn will work for this blanket. Just keep in mind that if you use a thicker yarn your blanket will turn out larger than this one.
