Something with mini cables or something lacy perhaps??

I'm working on the decreases. If 7 rows = 1 inch according to the pattern (provided that is how you knit), then how many inches are 5 rows?

i love this pattern that enables me to knit a beret without using the standard 5 double pointed needles. but, im wondering what size needles would i use if I wanted to used a thicker gauge yarn like maybe sport weight or worseted? thanks!

Hi Susie,
for a sport weight yarn try between a 4-6 US size
for worsted, between 6-8 US.
Good luck!

This is such a nice beret pattern! I loved the yarn you used! I will be trying this for the first time and glad I ran across your pattern. Looks very clear and simple to follow. I will be sure to post a picture of my finished beret! I will be using a rainbow colored corriedale yarn. Can't wait to get started! Thanks for this awesome pattern!

Thank you so much for the pattern! I've only just begun knitting, so I was looking for something fun-yet-simple, and this project looks perfect as a transition from knitting scarves.

I've knitted up to the increase row, but now I'm confused as to what to do next. By saying 'Knit until body measures 3 inches from the brim', do you mean that I should continue increasing up until the stated measurement, or should I do knit stiches?

Hi Kania-

Thanks for your question. The instruction means that you will knit only with no increases.

Please let us know if you have any more questions.

If I want to make the hat larger, should I just add multiples of 7 for each inch additional inch I need add to the hat (to maintain the 2" of negative ease). I need my hat to be 23" so I would cast on 135 stitches?

Thanks so much for the nice pattern in fingering weight!

Hi Thomasean,

You'd probably be okay with the pattern written as it is - the ribbing really does stretch. But if you feel like you need to add an extra inch, you should cast on 134 (an even number so the ribbing works out correctly). Then at Row 1 of the Crown, you may have to adjust the number of stitches to be a multiple of five.

Thanks for your question and good luck!

Hi!

Just wondering if I want to make the beret like the picture above on the main purl beret page, do I add any extra lines or keep the pattern as is?

Hi Ali-

I'm not 100% sure what beret you're referring to? If you're talking about the hats in the header here is that pattern:

Please let us know if this isn't what you were talking about.

Thank you!- Molly
