Berlin Scarf

berlin.scarf.2.jpg

Leah made this warm, dense scarf for her trip to Berlin, Germany this winter.

MATERIALS

Leah used four skeins of Fibre Company Terra in Hollyhock; you'll need approximately 400 yds of worsted weight yarn.

US size 8 needles or correct needles for gauge

tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

FINISHED SIZE

6 in. x 55 in.

I have a question related to the first comment and the reply: is it in fact correct to finish the 2nd and all additional rows by K1, yf, sl1 even if the pattern doesn't explicitly say to "yf" in between the two? If I don't "yf," then when I turn the work the yarn is in front - and I can't figure out how to knit the first stitch of the next row. Can you please tell me how you intend for it to be done so I can do it properly? Thanks!

Hi EB,
You do not yf for the slipped stitch, you want the strand to be on the back of the work.
On the following row you will knit the strand from the slipped stitch together with the yo, this is what makes brioche stitch so lofty.
Hope this helps!
