Knitting begins with the cast on. Like many knitting techniques, there are lots of ways to cast on; we thought we'd just start with this one. Any yarn and any needles will do. Just be patient and don't pull too tight on the yarn.
Maybe a additional useful tip to your excellent website and tutorials: when casting on I always add a second - much smaller - needle to the needle I'll be using for the project. That prevents the cast on stitches and the first row of your project being to tight.
