The BIG Move: Moving Dates and Customer Appreciation Party!

As many of you know we are moving our two small stores Purl and Purl Patchwork into a bigger space in SoHo this April. (For more information on The BIG Move and our new space please click here.) We can hardly believe how quickly our BIG Move is approaching! The new space is looking more and more beautiful each day; the walls are painted, the shelves are built, the lights are working and we're starting to get really excited to share it with you all. As we begin to pack up the old stores and make plans for the new space we wanted to let you know the exact dates of our move:

  • Monday April 12th will be the last day at our Sullivan Street locations. We have absolutely loved being on Sullivan Street for the past 8 years so this day will be bittersweet for us, but also very exciting!
  • We will be closed on Tuesday April 13th and Wednesday April 14th for the actual move.
  • We will re-open with our regular hours (12- 7pm) on Thursday April 15th at our new location 459 Broome St. (Click here to download a copy of Lena Corwin's adorable map which you can see below). We truly hope you all to come visit us on this day, but please be prepared for a little bit of dust and disorder as we get used to our new space and new systems!

If you'd like to print your own copy of our moving calendar you can download the full sized image right here.

Moving is going to be a huge amount of work, but we're so excited about our new space that we're actually looking forward to it. Best of all, after we've had a bit of time to adjust we're having a big party for all of our customers!

  • Saturday April 24th is the BIG opening celebration and Customer Appreciation Day. There will be free refreshments, goodie bags, giveaways and raffles along with free classes to show off our brand new dedicated classroom. (There will also be some fun surprises for our online customers who can't visit us in person!) We'll be sharing more exact details in the coming weeks but we really hope you can join us on this fun, special day!

Thank you so much for all your support and enthusiasm for this new exciting chapter. We hope to see you all at the new Purl Soho soon!

I'm excited for you. And I'm excited for me, because I'm going to be in NYC, alone, for a convention in May. I'm going to come and see your new store. Very exciting.

Congratulations! Can't wait to see the new store (though, I must admit, I will miss the old ones a bit :) You are my favorite crafty spot in town and have inspired me to branch out to more sewing and embroidery from knitting.
And a big shout out to all the great people working in your stores! They really make it a nice experience.

As I was reading this post I was trying to figure out how I could be in NY for your party (I live in Los Angeles) but got so excited when I saw that you will have something online for us out-of-towners :) I really look forward to it! I have always made a point of visiting Purl whenever I have been in NY (I go a couple of times a year for work) and can't wait till I get to see the new store.
Best of luck with the new place and hope your move goes as smoothly as is possible.

I tried my best to convince my significant other that I NEEDED to attend the customer appreciation party. No amount of pleading could convince him to buy 2 tickets to NY....fun hater!

Congratulations on your new place!

Good luck with the BIG opening. I wish I was going to be there, but living in Melbourne, Australia might make it a bit hard. I will have to visit your store when I will be in New York next time.

All the best.

Very nice! If I have a chance to go in New York, I put your adress on my ''visiting list''. I live not so far (in Montréal) and I like so much take a look in crafting and knitting stores in others cities and sure, buy some nice yarns or fabrics. Your news letters and web site are always a pleasure to read and pick ideas for news projects.

I was in New York for the past week and could not wait to go to the new store. Iv'e never been to NY before but had ordered yarn from PS on line a few times. The store was cute and I loved the layout. I wont be back though, getting anyone to help me get yarn down was difficult. When asking for someone to climb the ladder I was frowned at more than once. When I asked for more yarn I was frowned at again. when I tried to pay.... yes frowned at again! Isn't the idea to sell the yarn? I did buy 3 skeins of Jade sapphire cashmere. I love the yarn! Disappointed for sure!
