STC Craft | Melanie Falick Books Fall Giveaway!

Ah, October! Time to cozy up with a great craft book and learn something new! This season's books from STC Craft| Melanie Falick are just the thing to scratch that creative itch! We’re especially excited about Heather Ross Prints, the new offering from creative powerhouse, Heather Ross.

Prints is an empowering resource, walking you through the fascinating steps of creating your own digital textile designs. Heather uses her trademark humor and whimsical sense of style to thoroughly explain the process of using Photoshop to design unique prints. She also includes easy-to-follow instructions for twenty awesome projects, from custom wallpaper, to notebooks, to nightgowns! Plus, the book comes with a DVD (for both Macs and PCs) which contains the artwork to reproduce 50 of Heather’s most beloved prints on your own. Heather is a great teacher with a real gift for demystifying sophisticated projects, making them approachable and fun!

STC's other exciting titles this autumn include Kaffe Fasset Dreaming in Color, a behind-the-scenes autobiography of the beloved knitwear and textile designer, and Gertie’s New Book For Better Sewing, a fabulous reference book for garment sewing packed with lessons on couture techniques and customization. You'll love the vintage fashion and Gertie's spirited, modern style!

In celebration of this inspiring line-up of new books STC is generously giving away a library of fall releases to one very lucky Purl Bee reader! To enter simply leave a comment on this post telling us what you would make with your own digital textile design. Leave your comment by 5pm estFridayOctober 12th 2012. Be sure to enter your email address in the email field on the comment submission form so we can contact you if you win. (Don't worry; we never publish or share email addresses!) The winner will be chosen at random to receive Heather Ross Prints, Kaffe Fassett Dreaming in Color, Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing, Comfort Knitting & Crochet Babies & Toddlers, and Knitting from the Center!

Thanks so much to STC Craft | Melanie Falick Books for this great giveaway and good luck!

Wow! I would love to win this giveaway! What would I make with the Heather Ross digital textile design? Good question. Probably a quilt. Thanks for the chance to win!

If I made my own digital print, I would probably make a quilt for my little guy. I'm not really sure what I would make on the print, there's so many options!

I've been itching to learn how to knit, so maybe I would start there.

Wow what an amazing giveaway - thank you! I think I'd use my design to make matching pj pants for my husband and our one year old son for Christmas.

I know it's terribly unoriginal, but I would make some tote bags with my original fabric, which would probably feature sea turtles.

I am thinking perhaps a two piece outfit - a simple top made of my digital design and then a skirt or pants made of the same design with the colors reversed. What an exciting idea to design your own fabrics! thanks for the chance to win such great books!

I'd make a signature print to incorporate in ALL of the things I make, from blankets and clothing to canning labels and paper goods. Even the wrapping paper.

If I had my own print I would be making some cute jackets to put some fun in my work wardrobe and a dress or two to wear to events.

Love all of the books! I'm a former graphic designer from the old, pre-computer days and would love to update my computer graphics skills. The possibilities are endless! The Heather Ross book is just what I'm looking for. I would enjoy creating fabrics for tote bags and aprons, as well as a family heirloom recipe cookbook I'd like to have printed.

Fantastic giveaway, thanks for the chance to win a wonderful array of books. With my own digital textile design I might make up a fabric in four different colourways and make four different duvet covers, one for each season. There are so many possibilities. Thanks again, Melanie.

Ohhh I see a much needed redesign in my small but comfy family room!

What a fabulous giveaway! I would probably do something of a 'messy paint canvas' type of idea with my children's artwork. Extremely colorful on a white background. If it makes great wrapping paper.... :)

As we are living fall, I would design fall inspired textile prints - rowan berries, apples, mushrooms, leaves etc. in fall colours

Oh, I could have so much fun making dresses and skirts for my little girls with my fabric...

What a great giveaway - thank you!

I would make placemats and coasters. Maybe a couple zipper pouches too.

I would make prints/projects for my baby's nursery (due in February - running out of time!) and for the room my two older kids will start sharing soon. Anything fun and colorful and reflective of the kids' personalities (which are pretty fun and colorful, now that I think about it...)

I would get my husband to re-upholster the ugly wingback chair we've got sitting in our living room, and I would make some matching cushions!

such a cool giveaway! i would make bottom weight fabric with my own print because it's easy to find beautiful fabric to sew tops and dresses, but if you want fun pants or shorts or a tough skirt it's hard to find anything exciting. i'd bring back psychedelic in the form of some mean skinny jeans, how fun would that be? thanks for the chance to win such a cool collection!

I would love to design my own fabric for a quilt that I am making for my fiance as a wedding gift! It would add the perfect personal touch!

I would make a playful sundress with prints of kittens and balls of yarn and knitting needles. I can't find such a print anywhere and I LOVE sundresses!

I make funky patchwork bags and purses and totes and backpacks for friends, and have often thought of designing a "signature" lining but have always been daunted. So that's what I would do!

Thanks for the giveaway. I love your store (I'm lucky enough to live in NYC and be able to visit you often) and love the Bee!

Cheers,
Tracy Kahley
