STC Craft | Melanie Falick Books Fall Giveaway!

Ah, October! Time to cozy up with a great craft book and learn something new! This season's books from STC Craft| Melanie Falick are just the thing to scratch that creative itch! We’re especially excited about Heather Ross Prints, the new offering from creative powerhouse, Heather Ross.

Prints is an empowering resource, walking you through the fascinating steps of creating your own digital textile designs. Heather uses her trademark humor and whimsical sense of style to thoroughly explain the process of using Photoshop to design unique prints. She also includes easy-to-follow instructions for twenty awesome projects, from custom wallpaper, to notebooks, to nightgowns! Plus, the book comes with a DVD (for both Macs and PCs) which contains the artwork to reproduce 50 of Heather’s most beloved prints on your own. Heather is a great teacher with a real gift for demystifying sophisticated projects, making them approachable and fun!

STC's other exciting titles this autumn include Kaffe Fasset Dreaming in Color, a behind-the-scenes autobiography of the beloved knitwear and textile designer, and Gertie’s New Book For Better Sewing, a fabulous reference book for garment sewing packed with lessons on couture techniques and customization. You'll love the vintage fashion and Gertie's spirited, modern style!

In celebration of this inspiring line-up of new books STC is generously giving away a library of fall releases to one very lucky Purl Bee reader! To enter simply leave a comment on this post telling us what you would make with your own digital textile design. Leave your comment by 5pm estFridayOctober 12th 2012. Be sure to enter your email address in the email field on the comment submission form so we can contact you if you win. (Don't worry; we never publish or share email addresses!) The winner will be chosen at random to receive Heather Ross Prints, Kaffe Fassett Dreaming in Color, Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing, Comfort Knitting & Crochet Babies & Toddlers, and Knitting from the Center!

I'd make a really whimsical print skirt in clean, modern lines.

I would love to make my 2-year old some fabric with his favorite animals, vehicles, etc., and then create a whole new wardrobe for him. Either that, or I'd have to attempt some wallpaper. Either way, what an exciting idea!

Bags! Or quilts with weird surprising prints . . . that would be fun :)

I would most likely design the prints/fabrics for the purses I make. I would also use some to make blankets and/or a little bit of clothing for myself, like skirts. Thanks for the giveaway.

Thanks -Sarah A.

I'd love to print up some Heather Ross hard-to-find prints, and try my hand at my own. Pillow cases seem to be a fun, easy way to use lovely prints!

Well, I would definitely gift the prints book to my daughter who is a wonderful quilter and we all look forward to her gifts.

The Kaffe book just for me, and of course knitting for 2 toddler grandsons is something I would love to do.

What a fab giveaway. Oh, the choices are too many, but I'd start with something from Gertie's book. She is crazy-spectacular modeling all her "projects." :)

I would use the designs to make knitting project bags for holiday gifts and to make my 6 month old niece a pair of pjs.

I love that unicorn print, so it would be wonderful to make a print of the actual unicorn tapestries that are hanging up at the Cloisters. I'd love a single accent wall in my craft room of just the Unicorn in Captivity—those are some of my favorite childhood images.

The idea of making wallpaper from your own textile design, as done in the Heather Ross prints, is genius! I can't wait to own my own walls so that I can one day try it.

My family and i have recently moved to a country home with literally one store to shop for clothing in. I have taken to making my children's clothes and I would love the opportunity to design the fabric for them! Thanks so much to The Purl Bee, STC and Melanie Falick books for this amazing giveaway.

What a fantastic giveaway. So hard to choice just one or two projects... I'd want to make them all.

I'd use it to make bags. Purses and buddhist bead bags. I like the idea that the fabric would be personal and evocative.

As goofy as it may sound, I would make iPad cases. I love to be able to make the case match the person who is to receive it. Having a custom fabric print, would make that a snap. Thanks for all you share.

I can't wait to get my hands on both of these books! If I was able to make my own digital print, I would use it to make clothes for my rad nieces and nephews.
