Thank you for posting this! I have two wool blankets that I've had since childhood. They have been stored in my basement, binding frayed, for several years. You've inspired me to clean them, attach a new binding, and revel in their warmth again!

I just picked up a great wool blanket at the thrift missing its silky binding. I was going to to blanketstitch it with a contrasting yarn, but think I will use some real shantung silk instead. And love how you finish off teh opposite edges of the binding. As a quilter I was taught a 45 degree flap and sliding the opposite tail into that...this looks so much nicer! And BTW, I think your slip stitch is perfect, that is how I do it, anyway.
