Manos del Uruguay Blanket
This blanket is a wedding present for my best friend from high school. I'm making it in my favorite wool ever, Manos del Uruguay, which is the yarn it was designed for. The pattern is featured on the cover of "The Design Source Book of Home Decor" by Judith Shangold.
This one is constructed in a really interesting way. You make four squares all the same and then sew them together so that you get a diamond.
You start the squares by casting on 1 stitch and then increasing until you get a right-angle triangle; then decrease until you end up with one stitch.
You get to change colors and stitch patterns often so it never gets boring.
It's a perfect project for someone who is new to knitting; you practice a variety of techniques all in one piece. There are lots of ends to weave, though. That's the next step. More pictures to come when it's sewn! -- Leah
