Rabbit Raglan Pattern

rabbitsitting.jpg

NOTES

This pattern starts with the sleeves to minimize loose ends to sew in later.

Visit our Knitting + Crochet Glossary for a key to technical terms used in this pattern.

GAUGE

6.5 stitches per inch
For a helpful tutorial about measuring your gauge, visit our Swatch Tutorial.

SLEEVES (MAKE TWO)

Cast on 20 stitches, leaving a tail of yarn about 8 inches long to use for sewing up sleeve and underarms when you are done.
Knit 6 rows (this will create 3 garter stitch ridges).
Row 7:  Knit.
Row 8:  Purl.
Repeat rows 7 and 8 until sleeve measures 4 inches from cast on edge.  Purl Rabbit has extra long arms, so if the doll you're knitting for has arms that are a different length, measure from the doll's wrist to his or her underarm to get the proper measurement for your sleeve.

Bind off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next two rows.
Place 14 remaining stitches on a stitch holder; set aside.

Repeat for second sleeve.  Set aside.

SWEATER BODY

Cast on 60 stitches

Knit 6 rows (this will create 3 garter stitch ridges).

Row 7:  Knit.
Row 8:  K3, purl to last 3 stitches, k3.
Repeat rows 7 and 8 until piece measures 2 inches from cast on edge.

CREATE UNDERARMS

Row 1:  Knit.
Row 2:  K3, purl 10, bind off 6 stitches, purl 22, bind off 6, purl 10, k3.

JOIN BODY TO SLEEVES

Row 1:  Knit 13 stitches, place marker, knit across all 14 first sleeve stitches, place marker, knit 22 back stitches, place marker, knit across all 14 second sleeve stitches, place marker, knit to end.
Row 2:  K3, purl to last 3 stitch, k3

SHAPE RAGLAN

Row 1:  *knit to within 2 stitches of marker, k2tog tbl, slip marker, k1, k2tog, repeat from * for next 3 markers, knit to end.
Row 2:    K3, purl to last 3 stitches, k3.

Repeat these two rows 4 more times.

CREATE COLLAR
Knit 6 rows even, bind off.
