Why Ply

Knitters, weavers, and spinners classify yarn by ply, or how many strands of fiber twist together to create the yarn.  Over the years, these basic categories have gone by different names in different places, resulting in the sometimes confusing tangle of terms we find ourselves in today.  Read our for-once-and-for-all answer to the new knitter's question:  2-ply, 4-ply, Why Ply?
