Free Pattern from Denyse Schmidt

denyse window display.jpg

Here is a picture of the big window at Purl Patchwork.  These days a beautiful quilt made by our friend Denyse Schmidt draws smiles and oohs and aahs from passers by. The sunny fabric is all part of Denyse's first fabric collection, Flea Market Fancy, inspired by the little treasures she collects from tag sales, and flea markets.  You can find a free download of this pattern at the Freespirit Fabric website.  Thanks Denyse!

This quilt is amazingly gorgeous! Thank you for putting up the free pattern link! It definitely inspired me to make the exact same pattern.

P.S. I would like to know where I can get a solid creamish fabric like the one used in the quilt above. Is it 100% cotton and can it be purchased at purlsoho.com?

Thank you very much!

Dear Michelle,
The off-white fabric Denyse used in this quilt is called Kona Cotton. There are a few different whites available, I think this one is color "sand". We also have solids from P+B, and there are several whites in that collection too. You can see and purchase all of our solid, 100% quilt weight cottons here:

OK, so I LOVE this quilt and am a total novice but want to try it. I downloaded the 'pattern' and immediately am a bit confused given that the piece templates aren't really solid 'pieces' that I can cut out - is it because they're cut 'in half'? If so, does that mean that I just line up the circles with the crosses in them (crosses lining up) to lengthen to correct size? Sorry... so confused and I know this is an easy one.

Dear Nicole,
Yes line up the little marks, they're called "registration marks", tape the pieces together and then cut them out. Good luck!
