See Your Knits in Knitscene!
The enterprising editors of Knitscene Magazine are looking for you! They've put the call out for new, exciting knitting and crochet for the sumptuously themed Fall 2008 issue.
Knitscene is quickly making its reputation for fun, fresh looks at classic knitting and crochet forms. Their fashion forward styling is coupled with a highly
developed taste for beautiful fibers. Although they've only produced four issues, Knitscene seems to have a great attitude, boundless energy, and a knack for bringing together diverse styles. All of the photos in this post come from the latest issue!
For the Fall 2008 issue, "imaginative patterns for garments, accessories, small gifts, and fast-knitting items for the home" may be grouped into three distinct categories lush with inspiration:
BLACK FOREST
Black Forest is a "lightly Germanic/European theme, with a fairy-tale, whimsical, innocent, folkloric feel. Beginning colorwork, cables, heavy yarns, wools and tweeds, eclectic buttons and shapes, Scandinavian motifs used in interesting contexts, funky comfortwear for the cold months."
MILES TO GO
". . . Explores global styles and ethnic patterning. Kimono silhouettes meet bold geometric patterns meet wooden touches meet fine textures. An eclectic mix of shapes and projects, heavy on accessories and varied in yarn types. Take this opportunity to design a scarf inspired by that Andean rug you bought in Peru, a pullover inspired by Memoirs of a Geisha, socks inspired by Faberge egg decoration. Be a knitting ambassador to the world!"
GLASS, CONCRETE, AND STONE
"This story marries the romantic medieval/renaissance silhouette with contemporary materials, colors, and constructions. Think long lines, belled shapes, feminine touches, embellishment . . . in new ways—how does this genre fit into a modern girl's life?"
Proposals are due November 5, 2007, so check out the handy submission requirement information sheet for more, you know, information. You might like to take a look at some of their free web exclusive projects, too. Then get back to those needles, all you amazing knitters!
