Molly's Luxurious Wool Blanket

blanket-beauty-2.jpg
Of all of my handmade projects, this luxurious, organic wool-melton blanket is definitely my favorite. I can't wait to bundle up with it during the winter! The rich tone of the organic wool-melton from O-Wool is complimented perfectly by the vibrant print from Liberty of London that I used to bind the edge.  Although I'm planning to keep this blanket for myself, it would also make a great gift. Anyone will love it's elegant simplicity, and it's so simple to make. You can make one too, visit my Luxurious Wool Blanket Project Journal. --Molly

Wow, Molly, the tutorial is so great - very detailed and I love your comments throughout. The fabric you chose is really beautiful - loved what happens to the Liberty pattern when it's cut on the bias into the binding strips...it abstracts it in a wonderful way.

I recently am back into yarn and would love to know if you wrap the yarn balls like they are in your newsletter.. I LOVE that! I posted it about them on my blog today(10/11) and linked to your site.

Sure hope the yarn comes this way.. can't wait to hear!

I like the binding a lot on the blanket

This is so very pretty. That liberty print works well as a binding. I would have never thought to use it there. I think it would be very cool on placemats too as binding. Now you've got me thinking! Thanks.

i guess i am cheap...or at least hate taking wool blankets to the cleaners. My environmentally friendly cleaner charges $50 to clean a wool blanket. I have had great success simply washing wool blankets in a front loading washer on cold with woolite and gentle setting. Never tumble dry. I dry them spread flat on the grass i good weather or indoors over a couch back on top of a clean dry cotton blanket. SO far so good.

What a beautiful blanket! I love wool and the warmth it provides. Any clues on where to find the old satin binding? I do not like the stuff you get today, too plastic feeling. I love the old, soft satin binding. That would be my choice. I, too, have good luck washing the blankets, low agitation, cold water, line or flat dry.
