Love Letters, Vol. 357: Nashua Ecologie Cotton

org7.jpg

Ecologie Cotton is a refined Pima cotton dyed with all-natural plant dyes.  Pima cotton is an extraordinarily long staple fiber, over an inch long, full of strength and silken shine. It is a special blend of American cotton that was first cultivated in the 18th century. Today it is grown only in the US, South America, and Australia.

The plant-dyed colors of Ecologie Cotton are incredibly subtle, from the lightest pink to a cool green.  Each stitch is tinted differently from the next, creating a gently flowing fabric.  We think it an ideal yarn for summer projects, especially airy scarves, camisoles, and other garments.  We made a summer version of Leah's Berlin Scarf using three skeins of Ecologie Cotton. The lanky Brioche stitches are cool and smooth to the touch.
