Change of Address!

The Big Move -- This is a tale of bushels of yarn, mountains of fabric, a bevy of cardboard boxes, and one broken foot.
Purlsoho had outgrown it's first home, in Costa Mesa, California, and Jen had begun a search for a new spot close to her sunny seaside neighborhood. (fyi: Jen Hoverson, Joelle's sister and business partner, is the smiling face behind Purlsoho.com. She also contributes to the Purl Bee, like her Sherbert Irish Chain Quilt!) The new place must be bigger than an office, but smaller than an airplane hanger. It must be comfortable and functional and not too boring or industrial.
In June, Jen and company found just the place, and they began the arduous task of moving. Cashmere and cardboard -- just imagine the harrowing task! They dilligently packed up the fuzzy inventory and prepared for a July 1st moving day.
Things went smoothly at first, Jen told us: "Everything was going well; it seemed as though we were going to be able to get everything unpacked and put away to go back for our second trip and then, the Hoverson clutz gene kicked in. As I started down the first step outside I felt it give and I was suddenly on the ground with a very twisted foot. Along with the Hoverson clutz gene is the Hoverson 'I'm fine' gene so, I kept working (slowly) with Ray saying "Jen, sit down" about every 5 minutes. I eventually caved after the second trip to the old warehouse and decided we needed to visit the ER."

At the emergency room Jen learned that her tumble broke her second and third metatarsal bones in her right foot. Although she doesn't have to have surgery, she will be sporting a series of casts over the next few weeks. In addition to her doctor's prescription of pain killers, we have prescribed a whole lotta ice cream and some rest-and-relaxation knitting.
As for all that yarn and fabric, it is the capable hands of Tracey and Rickie. They are also prescribed a full course of ice cream.
thank you all so much for your thoughts! i am on the mend and thankful for tracey and rickie taking care of me at work (and taking care of all our customers, too)! and, of course, the ice cream is helping!

I wish I lived in Orange County, too. I'd love to work with y'all.
Anyway, a broken foot is a huge pain in the @$$ but thank god it's not a broken hand. I hope things heal lightning quick and the move goes as smoothly as possible.
We have only moved our website warehouse (which has always been in Orange County, California) to a new location (also in Orange County California). Don't worry the NYC shops aren't going anywhere! --Joelle
