Feel the Felt! Interweave's New Felt Magazine and the Purl Bee Felt Flickr Group

feltwave3.jpg
Obviously, we're not the only ones who are excited about making and using wool felt these days!  Whether you knit, needle, applique, or quilt it, felt is a wonderfully rich material for all kinds of crafts.

07Felt25.jpgThe multi-talented folks at Interweave introduce Felt Magazine this week, a terrific special issue packed with projects, techniques, and tutorials. There are many ways to transform wool roving into felt fabric, and several are expertly demonstrated with clear directions and illustrations.  These helpful tutorials form the basis for most of the patterns in the magazine.

feltmagwhitehat.jpgThe projects are divided into three sections: Felted Knitting, Wet Felting, and Needle Felting.  We liked the variety of projects, which are sure to appeal to crafters of all stripes. Scarves, necklaces, tote bags, and other accessories make for good first projects, but there is plenty to challenge the seasoned felter.

Who knew such a solid material could have so many personalities!

thanks for letting me know about Interweave Felt. I'll have to pick up a copy of that. Oh, and I've been dying to get some of the Mary Flanagan felt. It looks so wonderfully rich and wonderful to work with
