The Martha Stewart Show is Looking for Sewers Like You!

msl_aug06_org_sewing_l.jpg

Our friends at the Martha Stewart Show are looking for sewers to fill their audience on Monday, September 24th.  They've asked us to share this information with you:

We're filling our entire audience with sewers on Monday, September 24th at 10 AM.  A reservation is required so contact us today! Call 917 438-5999 or email us at audience@marthastewart.com (type "sewer" in the subject field).  Tell us about yourself - are you a student learning to sew, do you belong to a group of sewers or have you been sewing for a long time on your own?  We're asking everyone to bring something they've sewn with them on show day.  You won't want to miss it!  Please mention where you heard about this event.

Ticket confirmations will be sent out on a  first-come first-served basis.  MARTHA tapes at The Chelsea Television Studio, located at 221 West 26th Street (located between 7th and 8th Avenues), NYC.  *Ages 10 and over, please.

The image above is a fun project from their website, Sewing Kit in a Jar.  You can find that and more at Martha's website. Enjoy!

That sounds like fun, wish I had the time to do it...I'm sure it will be a very cool show. I'm off to check out your new liberty goodies...

IF you have more contact with them, the correct term is "semastresses." "Sewers" is where dirty water goes.....just sounds nicer to say seamstresses :)

I send in a plea to be chosen. lol

And I live in Canada! I guess Air Canada may stand to make some cash off of me if I get a ticket.

Hello Purl Bee! Is there any chance you can help your readers get a ticket? I desperately want to go to the show, but I responded too late -- even though I responded as soon as I read your post. I am a big fan of yours and Martha's. I have been to your store several times even though I live in Boston. I have a quilt that I would love to bring and show Martha. Thanks so much!! :)

Hi Tina,
Unfortunately we can't get tickets for anyone (including ourselves!) the audience is completely full! --purl bee

Tina,

I have a spare ticket for the sewing Martha show. It's yours if you want. But let me know asap as I'll offer it elsewhere if you don't want it.

I thought I'd offer it to you first as your seem as keen as I am!

Plus, I'll probably drive to Boston and take the train there so we could travel some of the way together.

Please let me know if you want it.

Oh my goodness, I am shaking. Yes, I would love the ticket. I sent an email to you. I've been checking the blog every morning just in case there was a chance! I sent my phone numbers to your email address. If you like, I can call you, too. Thank you so so so much! ~Tina

Hey I'd like to yell out a big "THANK YOU!" to PURLBEE.

Tina and I are going to the Martha show together!

I wouldn't have found out about the ticket offer if I hadn't read the purlbee post and I wouldn't have been able to offer the spare ticket to Tina (who is as happy as I am) if I hadn't seen her plea. ;-)

YAY! We're going to Martha!!!

I was at Martha's taping for the Sewing Show. We were informed that the last segment would be framing fabric. At the last minute, this segment was cut for an audience show & tell. On Martha's website for show details, it says thanks to Joelle Hoverson for demonstrating. I was so upset that this did not happen.

Text from Martha's website:
Special thanks to Joelle Hoverson, owner of Purl and Purl Patchwork in New York City, for demonstrating framing fabric. For more information on this fabric project, visit purlsoho.com.

I would have like to see that too CG. You could see the framed hoops on the cabinet too!

Well Tina and I had an awesome trip to see the show. It's blogged here, if you're fantastically bored and want to read it. ;-)

Purl Bee, is it OK that I used a photo from your blog (the picture of the interior of your shop)? If not, please let me know and I'll remove it.
