Whit's Knits: Halloween Witch Doll

Halloween's got a lot going on. Trick or treating, apple bobbing, pumpkin carving, corn mazes. But the aspect that really captures my imagination is the cast of characters that accompany the holiday: ghosts and skeletons and black cats and witches and goblins...there's a whole mini series worth of them!

My number one favorite Halloween character has to be the witch. She's rich with history and lore, from witchcraft to witch trials. She's complex and powerful, working for good and evil, riding a broomstick, palling around with black cats, cackling at everybody. What's it all about? I'm not totally sure, but she's got my attention!

I had a lot of fun bringing this witch to life. She's a little roguish and a little beguiling. As long as she casts her spells elsewhere, I think we're going to have a great Halloween together!

If you'd like a witch in your life, visit my Halloween Witch Doll Project Journal.  Thanks! - Whitney

Wow - very clever! And it opens up all kinds of possibilities for a good witch and other Halloween characters as well. Thanks for the pattern!

This witch is really amazing! Adorable, wicked, and the more I look at her the more I like her. Plus, the pattern doesn't look too hard, so I am tempted to try this one. I especially love the green body! and the wtichy hair!

My now college-age daughter was a witch for nearly every Halloween during her childhood. Since I'm a perennial beginner-knitter, I'll just make the hat in time to send it to her....with hopes that someday I'll manage to make the rest of the witch for her to have for another year's Halloween. Thanks for the fun and unique way to remind her of what a special little witch she always was!!

Wickedly adorable - I can think of nothing I would rather knit! All she needs is a wee broomstick to perch upon in the window.
