Whit's Knits: Cashmere Fingerless Gloves

I thought these fingerless gloves would make a great present, but now I'm not sure how I'll part with them! They are way too cozy to take off, let alone give away. I guess I'll have to keep making them until maybe I can let a pair or two go...

What makes these so special is Jade Sapphire's 100% mongolian cashmere. Nothing is softer, and no one dyes better colors. The employees at Purl are always talking about what Jade Sapphire color is our favorite (at least for that day!), what color looks good on whom, what shade of gray (or pink or green) is the most perfect. Someone's always pulling out a skein, saying, look at this one! Each skein is really a little piece of heaven.

So, be warned, you may need a back up present if you think you're making these for your sister! Ready to test your generosity? Visit my Cashmere Fingerless Gloves Project Journal. Thanks! - Whitney

Hi, new tothis. Looks like a good project. I am a better than a beginner but maybe not quite the expert. Have done mittens...fingers look a bit intimidating, where do I need to go to get the pattern?? Is this considered a knit-a-long?
Thanks,
from the newbie--Vic

These are adorable! And with the awesome pics you included, it will be the perfect skill-building project for my 16 year old. So that's double the knitting time, because she gets a pair but I don't have to knit them! Thanks, Whitney!!!!

I have almost finished the Right glove, and it actually looks close to what it's supposed to, however, when I looked at the Left glove, you have listed to continue as for the right, but I'm not sure how many stitches would be on the fingers, going the opposite way, would you mind leaving me a qick note as to the number of stitches for the Left glove. That's all I need is one glove! THank you so much...

Hi Jan,

You really do just follow the right glove instructions for the left glove, (except for ending the last round 2 stitches before the end of the round instead of 10 stitches before the end). Just like the right glove, you will put on hold 15 stitches for the thumb, 14 stitches for the index finger, 12 for the middle finger, and 10 for the ring finger.

I think this may become clearer as you knit the glove - patterns often do!

Please let me know if you have any trouble and thanks for your question!

I'm knitting these gloves right now, and they are really cute and fun! I've one glove finished and I keep wearing it around. I'm like the michael jackson of knitting.

Those are so cute! I love the button detail. I finally convinced my mom to start knitting fingerless gloves for her etsy page and they've been a real success! Y'all should check them out www.purlharborknits.etsy.com
