A Super Simple Sundress Class at Purl Patchwork

Dresclas1
We are happy to announce a new sundress class at Purl Patchwork taught by the very talented Heather Ross. This cute dress (modeled by Ani who works at Purl Patchwork and teaches the ultra fun embroidery class) is an ideal first clothing project for the beginning sewer. People always come out of Heather's classes inspired and confident in their new skills.

Super Simple Sundresses With Heather

Students will make a printed cotton sun dress for themselves. Participants should be comfortable using a sewing machine, and should have previously completed at least one simple sewing project. $125

       Tuesdays April 1st, 8th and 15th 7:15-9:15pm

For a complete updated list of our classes, including a new Sunday night session of Ani's Embroidery class, click here.

Why can't the Sundress class be on a Saturday morning? Tuesday night is too late for those that commute into the city.

Hi,

As I live in Northern Canada I wont be taking this class but I would love a recommendation for where to get the pattern or something similar. The smocking is so cute and the print is so summery. Maybe if I make something this cute the warm weather will arrive a little sooner (there is always hope).

Ditto Julia's comment - I work around the corner from the shop, but I'm a full time night grad students. Saturday's would be great for a class that would be very popular, as I'm sure this one will be.

I live in Arkansas, so I definitely can't take the class, but I'd love to know where I can find a pattern!

Hi Julia and Kim-
We currently hold our beginning sewing classes on Saturday mornings but we will keep your concerns in mind. In addition, we have recently added an Embroidery class on Sunday evenings which meets from 6:15- 8:15pm. We will be adding more classes in that time slot soon.
Thanks for your comments!- Molly

Man, I wish I lived there so I could take this class. That dress is like something I imagined. That is THE fabric I would've chosen too.

I had a dress like this when I was little but in sunshine yellow terry cloth. My mom made it for me. I wore it to see E.T. in the theater. I would love a dress like this now...I live in Nevada so will miss the class, too. Maybe you can put it in your next Last Minute book - Last Minute Projects That Make You Look and Feel Amazing!

Gorgeous--what is the fabric?

I love the dress, and I wish that I lived close enough to take the class. Maybe for one of the purl bee posts, you could sometime do a tutorial on how to do the ruching (spelling?!) at the top of the dress?
It's really adorable, and I am sure the class would be a treat!

I have been envisioning a dress made out of the Japanese fabric pictured for a long while now! I gasped when I saw this post!

i would love to take this class!

i have a question--
the class times are not ideal for me. will this class be offered again, later in the spring or summer? if this is my only chance to take it, then i'll make a way to clear my schedule!

thanks

So cute!! Will you be offering a pattern and/or tutorial for purchase for those of us that are so far away?

Yes, this class would be perfect for saturday mornings. I can come in early Saturdays. Sunday nights don't work as I gotta get to bed so I can be at work early Monday morning.

It would be perfect for this sundress class for saturday. I can come into the city friday night, take class on saturday & leave saturday night for home. pay one night for hotel. only issue I can think is maybe Heather Ross doesn't want to teach an early Saturday class. if so, boo hoo!!

I made that sundress from material that already had the elastic smocking at the top. You bought the yardage you needed by measuring the bust size plus or minus an inch or two. Now I cannot find that material. Do you sell it? I would love to find it again. Thanks.

I agree with the others who would like get their hands on the pattern. I have been looking for months for a sundress pattern for beginners and this is adorable!

Ditto on the request for simple sundress patterns. I'd be willing to pay for a PDF tutorial as well. We have a sailing trip coming up in May to the British Virgin Islands and I'm craving dresses like this to take with me!
