Whit's Knits: Linen Tunic
It's hard to know what to knit in the heat of summer, but knit we must! My favorite hot weather fiber is, hands down, Louet's Euroflax Linen. The dry, twine-y texture is the perfect antidote to sweaty summer hands.
Linen has a luxury all its own. To me, there is something so pure and deeply satisfying about knitting with linen. It's so clean and crisp that it's original plant form doesn't feel far away.

The basic structure of this tunic is very easy, an A-line shape with set-in armholes, but there are a few challenging design details. First, you'll use a Provisional Cast On to make the picot edged hem; you may be introduced for the first time to Elizabeth Zimmerman's false side seams (easy!); and you will use short rows to shape the shouders, but never fear! We have a new short row tutorial to help you navigate this technique if it's new to you. Just enough to keep you interested!
This tunic is timeless. It just gets better and better with age, softer and drapey-er, totally lived in. To make your own, please visit my Linen Tunic Project Journal. Thanks! Whitney
