Whit's Knits: Easter Finger Puppets

My family has a super eclectic (and exhausting!) Easter tradition. We paint Ukrainian eggs (no, we're not Ukrainian); we orchestrate races for my mother's vast Easter wind-up toy collection (bunnies versus chicks); we play a big game of capture the flag (some over zealous uncle inevitably limps away with a pulled muscle); and we even bang open a pinata (no, we're not Mexican either).

With all our Easter energy, I'm sure that my family will embrace the creative possibilities that these three new personalities will bring to this year's festivities. I can see the new tradition now - time for the Easter finger puppet show performance, everyone!

These puppets are just as much fun to make as they will be to play with. Quick and small, but with enough details to really personalize each creation. If you'd like to spend an afternoon making a cast of characters that will make someone's Easter basket very special, please visit my Easter Finger Puppets Project Journal.  Happy Easter! --Whitney

heh, pinata eh?! We did an Easter pinata one year...I made it myself. And it was UNBREAKABLE. All the goodies got shattered. Funny, we're not Mexican, either--

Very cute. What is the fabric you've got there for the puppet show curtains? Gotta get some!

Those are great! Too bad I don't have anyone to make an Easter basket for. Maybe I can make some and stuff them full of catnip for my kitty this year.

What, no cascarones? They are blown-out, painted, confetti-filled eggs that you smack on each other's heads (gently!) for luck! They are also Mexican and a ton of fun, if somewhat messy. So do 'em outside!
