Mimi Kirchner's Hand Sewn Felt Doll

The beautiful handmade dolls pictured above were created from a pattern developed for The Purl Bee by the incredibly talented, brilliant and generous Mimi Kirchner. When we first discovered Mimi's blog, Doll, we were in absolute awe of her work and knew we must invite her to create a doll pattern for our readers. We were so pleased when she accepted our invitation and even more thrilled when she brought the dolls with her to New York City and we finally got to meet her. We loved Mimi just as much as we love her dolls!

Here are some of our recent favorite dolls from Mimi's blog.

Mimi's talent takes our breath away, you can see her imagination, humor and skill in each doll she creates, with details so expressive and unique you just can't turn away. Everything about Mimi's work is beautiful, inventive, heirloom and just plain amazing!

The dolls pictured below were made using the pattern Mimi created for The Purl Bee.

Mimi's Purl Bee doll is sewn entirely by hand and made out of our lovely 100% wool felt from Holland. The hand sewing not only helps to create its heirloom quality, but also makes it an easy, fun and portable project. Thanks to Mimi's clever techniques and detailed instructions this pattern is suitable for those of any skill level. Come join the fun by visiting Mimi's Hand Sewn Felt Doll Project Journal!

Thanks Mimi!  Love, The Purl Bee

Oh! Just in time! I just decided to make a doll for a neighbor girl's birthday, and was still stuck on the look of the Coraline doll. These are perfect! Thank you.

Love the dolls... super cute.

I just wanted to let you ladies know that I was up in your store yesterday. My friend and I made a trip from Delaware to see some key yarn stores in Manhattan, and Purl came highly recommended... and it was probably the highest point of our day. I can't wait to start using the yarn I purchased.

Hi Juel,
On our site, if you see text in red, click on it, it will take you somewhere, as above where it says "Mimi's Hand Sewn Doll Project Journal" at the end of the post. If that link isn't working for you for some reason, you can find the pattern here:

Aren't her dolls beautiful! I love the simplicity of them, yet at the same time, there's a huge amount of work in each piece. A big thank you to Mimi for sharing her pattern with us, and to Purlbee for enabling her to share.

thanks so much to mimi, i am awaiting my felt with baited breath as i am planning to use this pattern to make my little boy his favourite character from the book he asks me to read over and over. I have been wondering how i am going to get him to lose his blanky(as it is so dirty it no longer comes anywhere near hygienic), and this little doll will definately do the trick!!! thankyou so much!!

Please is it possible to sent me the pattern off the doll. They are lovely.........

AWW how PRECIOUS, Mimi!!
I certainly will; question??
How did you attach the wonderful appliques on these? Stitched? I don't see stitching tho..
YES, the girls will LOVE making these; will be a good exercise in hand sewing (let's see how even they can make their stitches :)
I love detail and boy, do your dolls have the DETAILS; that's what makes them so adorable.
Thx again hon,
BecknTx
:)
