Oliver + S Sailboat Top Demonstration Workshop with Liesl Gibson

Purl Patchwork is excited to announce a very special workshop next weekend led by Liesl Gibson, the talented and creative designer behind the adorable Oliver + S sewing patterns for vintage inspired contemporary childrenswear! If you've visited us at Purl Patchwork recently, you've probably noticed the delightful samples displayed in our window right now. Pictured on the right is Liesl's Sailboat Top, a perfect summertime addition to your favorite little girl's or boy's wardrobe. If you love it as much as we do and would like to make one of your own, improve your pattern-sewing skills, and pick up helpful sewing tips along the way, join Liesl at Purl Patchwork on Saturday, May 30, from 9:00am until noon for her Sailboat Top Demonstration!

Liesl will demonstrate how to prepare and cut out the pattern, and then assemble the top, while providing tips to help you improve your sewing. She'll cover shortening and lengthening the pattern, sewing buttons and buttonholes, setting in seeves and proper pressing techniques. By the end you'll be able to make the top, as well as be more comfortable with patterns in general! While this workshop is geared toward new sewers, basic machine sewing experience is required. The cost for the workshop is $60. Please call Purl Patchwork at 212-420-8798 to register and for a complete materials list. Be sure to also check out Purl Patchwork's other exciting sewing and patchwork classes scheduled for this summer!

We're so pleased to have Liesl back on our teaching staff for this one-day workshop! Liesl has brought her immense skill and creativity to Purl Patchwork's classes since it opened in 2006, teaching machine sewing and special workshops for projects like her smart and handy Backpack Tote. In addition, Liesl is the author and creator of the amazing blog disdressed, in which she writes about sewing, design, and family. Her love for design and sewing led her to train at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology and later to the launch of Oliver + S, which she began after searching without success for unique patterns to sew for her daughter. We're so glad that she didn't find what she was looking for!

So join Liesl and Purl Patchwork on Saturday, May 30, at 147 Sullivan St, New York, NY 10012 (click here for a map to the shop). Please call 212-420-8798 to register and for any and all questions. We're looking forward to a fun and inspiring morning of sewing with you!
