Whit's Knits: Icarus Scarf

The Silken Straw yarns used to make this scarf are like blasts of sunshine. They shimmer and glisten and make me feel like I'm on a winged journey straight to the sun! Combining Alchemy's usual color wizardry with a beautifully nuanced texture, the effect is rustic and elegant at the same time. Definitely one of Purl's most sophisticated yarns, it crochets up into a very special scarf.

I think I'll give this to my dearest mom for Mother's Day. It's hard to part with, but she did give me life. Plus, I can always make another! If you'd like to make a couple for you and your mom, please check out my Icarus Scarf Project Journal. Thanks! - Whitney

Ooooh! I wish I wasn't in the middle of a 'Quick Brick' quilt for my Mom or else I'd be itching to work this up today. Definitely a to-do for spring, though!

Hey Purl Bee girls, I wanted to send big crafty kudos for the updated site here. Looks beyond great! And that new header... AMAZING! If you ever got around to doing a project journal on that honey comb quilt, I'd buy everything... :)

Happy spring!

I really do not crochet but for this scarf I might have to figure it out. I do knit and so I might just find something similar but I will be sure to use that beautiful yarn. As for your new look....The Purl Bee is my very favorite site of all blogs out there. I visit regularly and have made many of the projects with your products. I appreciate that you should be benefiting from this great site with so many incredible patterns and so the advertising is fine with me....but please don't stop inspiring us and don't get too commercial. It would be a major loss.

ok i am a regular follower and have sewed more than a few items, from here, i love purlbee and have purchased joelles book and made several purchases from the store as well. my first comment was not posted on this item, because i asked were all four skeins used in entirety? then i commented it would be an 80$ scarf. boo . i agree with karen, the blog deserves to make some dough, but the ads are a loss and sore to the eyes.

this scarf would be a bit pricey to make but, it would be a perfect gift for someone special. i for one think the new ads look nice. they aren't overwhelming or flashy and have led me to some other interesting blogs like inchmark and heather ross.

thanks!
