Molly's Sketchbook: Tooth Fairy Bags

Loosing a tooth is really exciting when you're a little kid. Usually it involves much wiggling and anticipation, and once it finally comes out there is even more excitement! The Tooth Fairy is coming! When I was a kid I just stuck my forsaken tooth into an envelope, put it under my pillow, and hoped for the best. We thought we'd try to make the whole ritual a little more fun by making a colorful bag complete with a special tooth-shaped pocket for the baby tooth. The Tooth Fairy can take away the tooth and leave the loot in the bag.

This is a really quick project. So quick that you might want to whip up a few in different colors for the different kids (and teeth!) in your life. It is made with our bright and beautiful wool felt, some embroidery floss (pun intended) and scrap yarn.

I used the Rainbow Wool Felt Bundle and was inspired to make a neat rainbow of eight cute little bags. The colors in this bundle are so bright and fun and they work for boys or girls.

There are no special stitches or techniques, just cutting and running stitch. If you'd like to make one of your own please check out my Tooth Fairy Bag Project Journal. --Molly

Oh, how sweet - this really made me laugh! We used special little tiny jewellery pouches when our children were small, but these bags are just the thing!

love the idea, I work as an assistant , at a dentist for kids. We have some ugly little plastic boxes the kids get, when they loose their teeth.

oooo! so cute. I had a tooth fairy pouch my grandmother made when I was little but it hung on my doorknob. I always thought that was ingenious. It makes it much easier to switch out the tooth for the loot :) It also meant I believed in the tooth fairy for a lot longer. I found out the same day I found out there was no santa claus :( That is what happens when you lose a tooth Christmas Eve and can't sleep because it is just toooooo exciting.
