Announcing September Purl Bee Workshops at Purl!

We are very excited to offer three Purl Bee Workshops in September - Mary Lou's Holiday Stocking, Whit's Knits: Hand Warmers + Flip Top Mittens, and Joelle's Giant Granny Square Blanket.
Mary Lou's Holiday Stocking was created by our dear friend Mary Lou Risely exclusively for Purl. Stockings are always a popular project here at Purl, espeically as the holiday knitting seasons gets started in the fall. This is a great class for all levels of knitters who want to learn sock techniques as well as simple color knitting. The workshop will be held on Saturdays, September 12, 19, 26 and October 3 from 10:00am - 12:00pm. Mary Lou will teach you basic sock techniques, such as picking up stitches, turning the heel, and working the gusset. The workshop will also cover other knitting basics, such as working with color, using double pointed needles, decreasing, i-cords, and seaming. This stocking can be made out of any light worsted or DK yarn. Mary Lou made hers in Koigu Kersti and Alchemy Temple in a rainbow of colors. You can find Mary Lou's complete pattern at this link.
Whit's Knits: Handwarmers + Flip Top Mittens are the perfect project for the upcoming fall months. They are great to give as a gift or keep for yourself for the brisk winter days ahead. This workshop is ideal for knitters who want to learn how to knit in the round on double pointed needles. The class will be held on Tuesdays, September 15, 22, and 29 from 7:15pm - 9:15pm. You will learn how to use double points, rib, increase, decrease, pick up stitches, make a buttonhole, and do a cable cast on. The handwarmers can be made out of any sport weight yarn. Whitney made hers with Jade Sapphire's 6-ply cashmere and Blue Sky Alpacas Sport.

Joelle's Giant Granny Square was such a popular and successful class that we have decided to offer it again! The workshop will be held on two consecutive Wednesdays, September 23 and 30th, from 7:15pm to 9:15pm. You will learn all the crochet basics as well as how to get started on your very own blanket. This project is a great way to experiment with color, stitches, and yarn. Purl's was done in Koigu Premium Merino but it would be beautiful out of anything!
You can find out how to sign up for these classes and view our complete list of knitting and crochet classes here (and our complete list of sewing and patchwork classes here).
