August Purl Bee Crochet + Knitting Workshops at Purl!
We are very excited to offer two new Purl Bee Workshops in August - Whit's Knits Crocheted Statsh Basket and Knit Baby Bloomers.
Crocheted Stash Basket is the ideal project for new crocheters. You can learn all the basics while making a pretty and practical basket. The workshop will be held on Thursday, August 20th, 27th and September 3rd, from 7:15 - 9:15pm. The workshop will teach you pattern reading, as well as the crochet basics - chaining, single and double crochet, and slip stitches. This project is a great introduction to crochet, and you can make the bag with a variety of weights and fibers. Whitney made hers in Rustic Silk, but we think it would be stunning in cotton too!

Baby Bloomers are the perfect “next step” for any knitters who want to move from baby blankets to baby clothing. The bloomers are a quick knit, and make a lasting gift for fast-growing babies. The workshop will be held on Monday, August 17th, 24th, and 31st from 7:15 - 9:15pm. You will learn garment construction, as well as how to knit in the round, do a cable cast-on, create colored stripes, seam, and how to sew in a waistband and button. This wonderful project can be made with any dk weight yarn. Whitney’s pair was made in Cotton Glace, but there are plenty of great options here for you to choose from!
If you are just starting out, no need to worry! Purl will also be offering their beginner knitting classes in August. The beginner series will be held on Saturdays, August 15th, 22nd, and 29th, from 10am - 12pm, and on Tuesdays, August 18th, 25th, and September 1st, from 7:15-9:15pm. Click here to see our complete schedule of knitting and chrochet classes. If you'd like to sign up please give us a call at (212) 420-8796, Monday - Friday 12-7pm (EST) or Saturday - Sunday 12-6pm. Look out for more upcoming workshops in September, including Christmas Stockings, Hand Warmers + Flip Top Mittens, and Joelle's Giant Granny Square Blanket!
