Announcing October Purl Bee Workshops at Purl!

We are very excited to offer three Purl Bee Workshops in October - Crocheted Linen Grocery Tote, Winter Hats, and Joelle's Giant Granny Square.

Whit's Crocheted Linen Grocery Tote is the perfect beginner crochet project. You can learn all the basics while making a fun and reusable shopping bag. The tote is a great gift for friends who shop at farmer's markets, or to keep for yourself the next time you go! The class will be held on Wednesday, October 7th, 14th and 21st, from 7:15 pm - 9:15 pm. The workshop will cover chaining, slip stitches, single crochets, crocheting and attaching handles, working in the round, and weaving in your ends. The bag can be made from a variety of fibers and weights, we only recommend that you select something sturdy and durable. Whit made hers with one skein of Louet's Euroflax Linen - stop by the store to check out all of the beautiful colors!

There are so many fun and fashionable hat patterns out there that we couldn't pick just one to teach. The Winter Hats workshop will open to both beginner and advanced knitters who need hat help. From learning how to cast on to circular needles to how to work fair isle on double points, the workshop will provide assistance to all hat knitters. There is no required pattern for the class, each student should select their own. Some of our favorite Purl Bee hats are Whit's Simple Pleasures Hat (above), Jen's His + Hers Knit Hats, and Giacomo's Baby Hat. The workshop will be held on Monday, October 12th, 19th and 26th, from 7:15 pm - 9:15 pm. Students will learn a variety of skills depending on their pattern, such as how to use circulars and double points in the round, rib, increase and decrease. Don't feel limited by the choices above, check out all of our beautiful hat patterns in our Hats Gallery!

And last, but not least, we have the incredibly popular Joelle's Giant Granny Square Workshop. This class has become a fixture at Purl and we love seeing all of the color combinations that our students pick out. We've even ordered special shipments from Koigu, so that we have endless color shades to create the perfect blanket. This is a great class for anyone who wants to learn how to crochet. The workshop will be held on Thursday October 22nd and 29th, from 7:15 pm - 9:15 pm. You'll learn how to chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and weave in all your ends.

You can find out how to sign up for these classes and view our complete list of knitting and crochet classes here (and our complete list of sewing and patchwork class here).
