Workshops and Classes at Purl Soho

We are so excited about our new classroom at Purlsoho! It's tucked away from the rest of the shop and it's big, beautiful and full of light. We have always dreamed of having a space like this and now that we finally do we've been scheduling some really fun workshops and classes!

Coming up next weekend we are thrilled to be hosting a workshop with Bruce Weisnstein, the author of the great book Knits Men Want.

Bruce Weinstein Workshop

$50

We are excited to announce this workshop with the author of Knits Men Want and the popular blog under the same name. You will start out by talking about the stories everyone has about knitting for men and also about about yarn choices, colors, softness, etc.. The project is a reversible cable scarf which can be knit in a sport weight or up to chunky weight yarn. Bruce will also touch on the importance of getting the proper gauge in the round and how to achieve knitting an accurate swatch using double pointed needles.

  • Saturday May 22nd 3:00pm - 5:00pm

And then the following week we're hosting another event by another very talented knitter:

Stephen West

$50

In this 2 hour workshop, Stephen West of Westknits uses his popular shawl designs to talk about shape, construction, and drape. Students will knit a small triangular swatch while topics such as cast ons, increases, bind offs, and blocking are discussed. You will also learn some of Stephen’s favorite tips and tricks! Class is limited to 12 seats so please sign up soon!

See some of Stephen's patterns here!

  • Thursday May 27th 7:15pm – 9:15pm

In addition to these great workshops we have basic sewing, embroidery, and knitting classes coming up as well and soon we'll be adding kid's classes so please stay tuned! You can check out the full schedule here or sign up by calling 212-420-8796.

Hope to see you in the classroom!
