Molly's Sketchbook: Liberty of London,Tana Lawn PJ's
Recently we got in a bunch of new Liberty of London Tana Lawn prints and they're simply breathtaking. Liberty's Tana Lawn is known for its exquisitely detailed printing, its incredible color and its silky smoothness that makes it drape like a dream. The print I've used here is called Mitsi. It used to be one of Liberty's Seasonal prints, meaning that they only printed it for one season, but they loved it so much that it has now become a Liberty Classic that will always be in print, we'll always be able to get more (yay!). The red colorway is so stunning that the minute I saw it I knew I had to make something with it.
I love making simple practical things out of Liberty Fabric because then I can live with it everyday. This easy to sew Sleep Well Pajama pattern from Favorite Things totally fits the bill. The lightweight cotton lawn is breezy and cool and the amazing print makes them a fun bold statement. I also think they’d be a great birthday or housewarming gift, especially for any Liberty fans you might know!

The pajama pattern is very simple and will be a breeze for anyone who has sewn a garment from a pattern before. If you’re a beginner it’s a great choice for a first garment project but I thought I’d explain something about the cutting that might make the directions more clear:
When cutting the leg pieces, fold the fabric in half lengthwise with the right sides together and then cut each piece through both layers of fabric, you’ll then have two properly oriented pieces.
Other than that it should be smooth sailing! You can check out our entire selection of Liberty Tana Lawn here and other PJ patterns (including a kids version of these) here!
Happy Sewing! --Molly
