Polka Dot Lap Duvets!

We’re seeing spots! Thanks to Nani Iro’s Summer 2013 collection of Double Gauze, we’re hypnotized by the delicate whimsy and classic timelessness of polka dots!

In love with these quirky prints, we’ve whipped up a new set of Molly’s fantastic Lap Duvets. Originally made from Nani Iro’s Spring 2011 collection, our Lap Duvets were later resurrected for a cuddly winter version in Ecrulet’s Flannel Stripes.

And now we bring you a summer-fresh palette of polka dotted blues and greens that perfectly reflect June skies, refreshing lakes, and splendid seas. Nothing beats these simple, lofty blankets! Polka dots and carefree florals, be sure to check out Nani Iro's entire collection of Double Gauzes right here!

The Materials

To make one 58 X 42-inch blanket:

  • 1 3/4 yards of Nani Iro's Double Gauze Summer 2013. The prints used here, pictured above from top to bottom, are Pocho White, Grey, Aqua, Teal, Navy and Snow.
  • 1 3/4 yards of Moda's Moda Muslin 200 count in the color Natural.
  • 1 throw size Wool Batting
  • 100% cotton thread. For the color White fabric, use the color 1040 thread; for the Grey, use 9045; for the Aqua, 7700; for the Teal, 7280; for the Navy, 7400; and for the Snow, 6080.

I don't see what color thread is used for Pocho?

I have really enjoyed seeing all the different versions of the lap duvets--they are all so lovely. I recently made a pieced quilt with wool batting based on this pattern and I love how it turned out! http://brigitgail.com/2013/06/25/nautical-baby-quilt/

Thanks as always for the wonderful inspiration!

This is such a great pattern! I really loved my first nautical quilt so I made another--this one in coral with a patch of Liberty. Thanks again!
