Super Easy Blankets!

The Purl Bee's Super Easy Blanket was one of our very first patterns, and all these years later, it still satisfies us with its easy modernity and lively versatility. Since its introduction, we've knit this blanket in oodles of colors and yarns and sizes, each version highlighting a fresh idea. And now Purl Soho's Worsted Twist and Super Soft Merino yarns have inspired a new stack of gorgeous Super Easy Blankets!

With its tidy spin Worsted Twist gives our Worsted Twist Super Easy Crib Blankets a crisp and elegant finish. And perfectly midweight, these blankets have a wonderful heft and lush softness, so nice for chilly stroller rides and cold nights!

Worsted Twist's palette of soft and mellow blues, punctuated by bursts of hot pink and bright yellow, creates  four beautiful color stories: Heron (shown above), Macaron, Slipper, and Neptune. Choose your favorite right here with our new Yarn for Worsted Twist Super Easy Crib Blanket kits.

And for a wintertime blanket or anytime playmat, whip up our Super Soft Merino Super Easy Crib Blanket. Same seven bold stripes, same generous crib size, and same incredible soft touch, but this version is heavier, thicker and quicker to knit. Our Super Soft Merino Super Easy Crib Blanket kits come in six inspiring colorways, each special in its own way!

Laura's Loop: Color Tipped Scarf

Come fall, I just know I will be that fumbling girl on the sidewalk, bag falling off my shoulder and coffee spilling on innocent passersby, as I gracelessly reach around for my trailing scarf… which has come unwrapped… again. Fess up! I know I’m not alone in this. I see fellow strugglers, cluelessly strutting about with their scarves dragging behind, picking up all the wonders of the city’s floor.

There is a science to securing a scarf. With neat triangular ends and a gently gripping garter stitch texture, this dapper Color Tipped Scarf longs to hold tight and budge-free! And not incidentally, the bright pointy tips provide a delightful pop of color, saving us all from too scientific an approach to scarf design!

Knit up in Purl Soho’s new Worsted Twist, the Color Tipped Scarf is fantastically soft, hearty, and beautifully simple. You can buy all the yarn you’ll need with our Yarn for Color Tipped Scarf kit. One kit makes one adult scarf OR two kids’ scarves. It’s available in three pretty colorways, or create your own from our full palette of colors right here. Here’s to a fumble-free fall, enjoy! -Laura

Corinne's Thread: Smocked Dress and Shirt Kits

I have sewn tons of garments for my daughter, from teeny tiny rompers to delicate bonnets, but there’s one thing I had yet to tackle: a classic smocked dress. I have always wanted to try my hand at smocking but was too intimidated by all the tiny pleats and miniscule stitches to actually give it a go. Turns out, my fussing was for nothing; hand smocking is totally easy!

With just a few well-placed stitches I was able to check this off my sewing to-do list without a single new gray hair. And I am so glad I did! The intricate puckers and pleats of the honeycomb smocking add such fascinating and beautiful detail to this otherwise simple garment.

If, like me, you’re a bit of a smock-o-phobe, our new Smocked Dress and Shirt Pattern is the perfect place to start. It includes a Smocked Dress pattern for sizes 12 months to 6 years and a Smocked Shirt pattern for sizes 12 months to 10 years. Full-color photographs and instructions walk you through every step, from cutting the fabric and marking the smocking grid right down to the very last hem. You can use this Pattern with any lightweight cotton fabric you love!

Or if you adore classic gingham as much as I do, pick up our Smocked Dress and Shirt Kit! It includes...

Choose from four beautiful colorways, each one packaged in a sturdy Purl Soho box. All you need to add is the sewing machine, bias tape maker and the special love and care that go into every handmade garment! - Corinne

PS. Already have fabric? You can find the pattern on it's own right here, too!

New Colors of Super Soft Merino!

Our incredibly cozy Super Soft Merino was born as a collection of twelve beautiful colors, a balance of wildflower brights and classic neutrals. But if you adore color (and we do!), our original palette was just a beginning, which is why we're so excited to welcome nine gorgeous new colors to the Super Soft Merino family!

We've added a wide spectrum of beauties, inspired by nature and what we love: Dragonfly, a heart-racing blue, and Pale Stone, a cool, calm neutral; the soft and delicate Ballet Pink and the moody Storm Gray; the crisp breath of Ice Blue and the gentle sigh of Sea Salt; plus a trio of deep, earthy tones: Terra Green, Otter Brown, and Dark Loam.

More colors means more fun! Nothing makes us happier than shuffling around skeins of yarn until we hit upon a special combination that strikes a resonant chord. And one of our favorite riffs is the Super Easy Crib Blanket, a garter stitch rectangle made up of a series of seven colors in a simple progression. With the right notes, it sings the perfect tune!

Our original Super Easy Crib Blanket is a sweet confection whose palette we call Macaroon. We're so into this blanket's plush warmth and quick 2 3/4-stitches-to-the-inch, that we're knitting up five more! You can knit right along with us, just grab your favorite Super Soft Merino Super Easy Crib Blanket kit and cast on!

One of our favorites is sure to be the Cameo blanket. Its quiet colors, shown above, evoke a vintage mood of hand-tatted lace and soft leather gloves. These colors, from the top, are Toasted Charcoal, Storm Gray, Oyster Gray, Pale Stone, Sea Salt, Heirloom White and Ballet Pink.

Or choose one of our other palettes, shown clockwise from the top left: Pennant, Atmosphere, Bandana and Firefly. Each one plays to its own rhythm. Synchopated, lyrical or metered, pick the one that sings to you right here! And to view our new collection of Super Soft Merino just click here!
